Disguised comic book superheroAs I have been thinking about the celebration of Easter and what “The Father” asked “The Son” to do, my train of thought went to “super heroes”.  They are always doing amazing things, but they are always doing them as “someone” or “something” more than who they really are.  Thus we see them as “super heroes” and put them in a class all by themselves.

The truth is we are really the “super heroes”.  Have you ever noticed whom “The Father” chooses to do “super” things in His Name?  Aliens, heathens, shepherds, cowards, tax collectors, fishermen, prostitutes, demon harassed folk, traitors, sinners – and the list could go on and on.  As we march toward establishing the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven, His mighty army is full of heroes because they are empowered by “The Commander and Chief”.    He has taken prisoners from all sorts of devastations and messes and breathed “freedom” into their hearts and lives and loosed them to be “super heroes” spreading the “Good News” to every tribe and nation.  He has called His army to heal the sick, bind and cast out unclean spirits, loose other captives from hurts and wounds that have disabled and paralyzed them, to be committed to preparing themselves and others to be “holy, cleansed by the washing of the Word, ready to be presented to Him as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless, as a bride adorned for the Bridegroom”. (Eph. 5:26-27)

“The Father” is not concerned about what we have or who we are.  He is concerned as to whether we will allow Him to make us a “super hero”?  Whether we are willing to let Him have His way and obey His commands or whether we want to continue to lean upon ourselves to see ourselves through as best we can.  Whether we want to continue to nurse our hurts, remembering the pain, feeling sorry for ourselves, blaming others, instead of crying out “I am healed!”  Or as Isaiah cried out, “Here am I.  Send me!”

We are living in a time when there is very little difference between “the world” and “the church”.  This should not be!  The “Church” down through the ages has “turned the world upside down”.  It is time for the “Church” to rise up and once again “turn the world upside down”.  This is not for those who look to themselves, count the cost, and conclude – “I can’t do this”.  Of course you can’t!  “The Commander and Chief” is not asking us to do it ourselves.  He is asking us to “trust Him”!  To allow Him to amaze us and those around us by seeing what He can do through us!  This not the time for excuses – “who will roll away the stone?”  This is the time to step forward and follow Him to see what He is going to do and possibly having the thrill of discovering He has done it through us.  Don’t get bound up remembering what He has done for us in the pass.  Look to the next moment to see what He is going to do with us in the “now”.  The heart cry of “The Son” was and is, “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!”  Beloved, the battle cry is still the same.  Let it ring out through out the land – “the Kingdom of God is here!!!”  We have tasted it!  We have experience it!  We are living in it!  Righteousness is the glorious light shining in the darkness and we are “the glorious, vibrant, shining lights!”  Take joy, He has overcome the world and we are part of His army of “super heroes” overcoming it!!!
