“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; you have freed me from my chains.” (Psalm 116:15-26)
I have just returned from celebrating the wonderful life of Pastor Lansing S. Waters. Lansing, who you may have been praying for, was called to glory May 29. Griselda, his daughter Sarah and her husband Devon, and Michael, his son, and Lorie his wife, were there with him as well as his four grandchildren. His Memorial Service was June 17th, which was also happened to be their 45th Wedding Anniversary. It was held at Bethel Open Bible Church in Lodi, CA., where they had been married. Lansing’s life verse was,
“WHO SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?
SHALL TROUBLE OR HARDSHIP
OR PERSECUTION OR FAMINE
OR NAKEDNESS OR DANGER OR SWORD? …
NO, IN ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM WHO LOVED US.
FOR I AM CONVINCED THAT
NEITHER DEATH NOR LIFE,
NEITHER ANGELS NOR DEMONS,
NEITHER THE PRESENT NOR THE FUTURE, NOR ANY POWERS,
NEITHER HEIGHT NOR DEPTH,
NOR ANYTHING IN ALL CREATION,
WILL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD
THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.” ROMANS 8:35-39
Lansing loved this passage and believed it with all his heart. Indeed, when he was in the Emergency Room a week before he died, he told Gris he had seen Jesus looking at him around the curtain. He didn’t say anything. He was just there – “nothing shall separate us from the love of Christ.”
Death is not a separator when it comes to those who love the Lord. Lansing has been set free of all his earthly chains and is enjoying the freedom of the heavenly places. Alleluia!!!
